The DiscGolf Lab is a forum for masters and professional DiscGolf athletes to discuss the foundational science and theories behind the sport.
DiscGolf Powershot – generating the speed
A crowd favourite, the discgolf powershot is a game highlight that draws cheers from spectators. The mystery behind this throw relies on the athlete’s mastery of sequencing their body’s motion from the ground up. Every discgolfer is unique with their powershot and we are keen to unravel our own sequence that takes our discs to flight.
Does working out make you a better discgolfer?
I’ve been asked too many times if working out at the gym makes one a better discgolfer. Does one really need to build muscles to throw farther and better? Discgolf is a very unique sport and my answer to the question will surprise you! Watch.
Course strategy determines your game
I always ask my students to be very creative with their throws. There are very few standard throws to master, but when your disc falls between thick tree lines, non-standard throws, unusual body twists, arm angles and a lot of body english make a creative shot to the clear green or even the goal!
