First Love

“I have always been into sports since I was a kid. I remember my mother having a very difficult time calling me back home when I was out playing soccer, hockey, tennis or frisbee. I love the energy that sports bring into my body and mind. My favourite sport at that time was soccer, which I started playing at 4 years of age. However, at 17 years, I sustained a bad foot fracture at one of the biggest soccer tournaments in Sweden.

At 18, I turned a new page and focused on playing a lot of frisbee tournaments. I vividly remember hopping around in crutches on one leg as I threw standstill forehands just to have something to do. I joined 7 individual events for DiscGolf, Distance, SCF, Accuracy, Freestyle, DDC & Discathlon. I enjoyed the new tournaments, even while I was healing from my soccer injuries. DiscGolf provided mental relief from the depression I had from leaving soccer.”

The Journey Continues

“I love looking back. Progress gives me so much satisfaction to pursue greater things. I am now a 3-time World Frisbee Champion and the 1st European-sponsored champion player by Innova. When DiscGolf was separated as a unique sports discipline, I also became the 2-time European DiscGolf champion as well as a Euro-tour champion together. I am also a 2-time Guinness Records title holder in distance and TRC Throw Run & Catch categories.

I love playing DiscGolf well. And it has loved me back. While a frisbee disc seems like an ordinary object, to me, it is more than a 3-dimensional art form that can appear in all shapes and shots. It shows me its feelings and emotions as it glides through and interacts with nature. I experience the sweet sound as it is thrown from my hand, hits the tree, brushes the leaves and finally clinks the goal chains.”

DiscGolf has affected my life in so many ways. It has brought me new acquaintances, deep friendships, and a loving family. No other sport has a dedicated community pouring their love for the game. DiscGolfers are a rare breed of sports professionals. We have a symbiotic relationship, whether we are playing in the park or a field, to make the other feel better, play better… and ultimately be a better sportsman.

DiscGolf has taught me to be dedicated in all I do. Today, my goal is to help other athletes by training them to be the best they can be. As one who has travelled and has accomplished much in sports, I can see it is an exciting life in sports ahead!
